About Sylvia

Thank-you for dropping by, my name is Sylvia McGrath ~ AKA Writingmama. I am retired and living in Toronto, Ontario after having worked in the business field for about forty years obtaining business management and writing skills. I also spent several years in social work for Children’s Services in Scotland.

A few years ago, after retiring I decided to take a course in freelance writing, which I really enjoyed as this was the key to following my dreams. Since completing the course I have worked as a professional writer, a published poet and co-authored a book with Two Maximum Life Coaches about living with chronic illness; this is titled “After the Diagnosis ~ The Journey Beyond”. I also co-authored an E-Book of Resources for the parents of children with special needs, chronic illness and learning challenges titled “The Treasure Chest of Resources,” part one of this had already been sent to the Canadian National Library Archives. I have also written several articles on chronic illness for several online websites.

Over the years, I still found time for two other passions of mine, volunteering as a literacy tutor at my local learning Centre, and assisting in facilitating workshops on disability awareness.

My main mission for the future is to write a series of books for young adults and children who have a learning challenge, suffering from a chronic illness or have a disability. I am also looking to improve my skills, writing for children and young adults and to continue learning and teaching literacy with you on Professor Owl’s Book Corner.

About Belinda

Hello, I’m Belinda (McGrath) Witzenhausen and in a nutshell; I am a Writer, Creativity Coach, Artist, Student, Bookworm, History Geek, Armchair Archaeologist, Amateur Photographer, Coffee Connoisseur & Hubby’s Grossly Under-Paid Bass Roadie.

I have always enjoyed helping others, as well as being creative. Both my education and work history have revolved around social services, counselling, art therapy, coaching and expressing my creativity be it through writing, art, or photography.

Over the years I have been blessed to cross paths with many interesting and creative people who have been a source of inspiration. I love life and try to make sure that each of my days is touched by the creative process. I make it my mission to help others heal by igniting their creativity, as well as acting as an advocate for young adults with special needs and learning challenges.

Currently, I am working on novels inspired by my love of archaeology and mythology set to be released in 2023. I am also a contributing writer for various mainstream websites, main writer/creator of  BelindaWitzenhausen.com  and WriterzBlox.net, a partner at Professor Owl’s Book Corner, main reviewer at Boho & Bookish and Urban Word Nerd as well as Creativity Coach at IgniteYourCreativity.net.
