Professor Owl’s Book Corner ~ September 2022

Whatever way you received your education, it was exceedingly difficult for most of you and not having contact with your close friends. So, it will be simply great being able to interact with your friends and have some normality back in your lives.

Well, here we are in September again and back to school for everyone after an exceedingly difficult couple of years. Some of you learning at home and others in the classrooms wearing masks and using a lot of sanitizers.

Visual Leaners

I do understand that some of the schools are going to keep the masks in use but mainly when one is in close contact, have not had their booster shots or a showing symptom of Covid 19.Since we are all trying to get back to a normal lifestyle, we at Professor Owls Book corner ate going back to a one a month newsletter and if possible, back to our weekly book reviews. If you have any ideas of what you would like to see, just drops us a message your personal information will never be saved or shared. We really do want to make our blog your place to get help that is useful to you. Leave us just a little message in the box at the end of this newsletter let us know what you like and your ideas on how we can improve it for you.

Remember, however, if you need someone to help you with homework, or with problems you are experiencing we are listing some numbers and links below where you can receive help ~ the Kids Help Phone Call 1-800-668-6868 (toll-free) or text CONNECT to 686868. Available24hours a day to Canadians aged 5 to 29 who want confidential and anonymous care from trained responders. To access support through Facebook Messenger, see the Kids Help Phone above.

We started our newsletter ” Professor Owl’s Book ” twelve years ago, to help those in middle grades and teens with a disability or learning challenges. In those twelve years, things have changed, especially during the past two years with Covid 19 and the introduction to virtual learning.  Some of you may still be working virtually and others may be back in the classroom, but we are always here for you and give help when we can.

We at Professor Owls Book Corner believe that anyone with a learning disability also has a unique style of learning below we are listing the distinctive styles to see if you and your parents or teachers can identify yours, and we will try to include ideas on identifying your style and give some ideas that might work for you.

This month our featured book is by one of Professor Owl’s favourite authors Simon Rose, it is Book Two in “The Stone of the Seer” series, we are sure you will enjoy reading it as much as we did. Elizabeth, Kate, and Tom have some narrow escapes that had us sitting on the edge or our seats waiting to see what was going to happen next. At the end of the book, it leaves us wondering what will happen next and will there be a book three?
