autism awareness day

In 2012, it was declared that every April 2nd will be recognized as International Autism Awareness day. … we also recognize October as Autism Awareness month, … it therefore seemed fitting to let you know about a wonderful book, that helps both children and adults understand autism a little better.

This book’s colourful pictures and delightful storyline will encourage acceptance and understanding among children, while the printable coloring pages will explain and connect learners!

My Friend with Autism is the special result of parent Beverly Bishop’s determination to educate her son’s classmates about autism. This enabled her son to fit in at school. A child narrator explains that his friend with autism is good at some things and not so good at others—just like everyone else! In an informative, positive tone, he addresses issues such as: * Sensory Sensitivity * Communication Differences * Unique Ways of Playing * Insistence on Routine

At the end of the book are Page-by-Page Notes for Adults, which supplement the text with facts and explanations to further educate teachers and classmates’ parents. ANNE OF GREEN GABLES

By Lucy Maud Montgomery

 ANNE OF GREEN GABLES-crop

Anne of Green Gables is about a skinny red haired girl who has both a short temper and a very colorful imagination. She really loves the little farmhouse but the Cuthberts might send her back to the orphanage because Matthew needed a boy about 11 or 12 to help him on the farm.
Sometimes Anne’s imagination gets her in trouble. For instance when Marilla asks her to get a pattern from Mrs. Barry she doesn’t want to because she imagined the woods between the houses were haunted! The book tells about her life growing up in the 1930’s. As she grows, she learns many lessons and meets many friends who help her to become Anne of Green Gables.
This book is wonderful. It is a great book for girls to read. I loved it because the character was funny, spunky, and could talk forever. She reminded me of my sister. Anne never gave up trying to reach her goals. She will keep you interested throughout the whole book!
