Earth Day–Hooray! (Math-Start 3) [Paperback]
On Monday, April 22, we will celebrate Earth Day 2013 and Professor Owl has chosen this book, titled “Earth Day-Hooray!” It is a great book for celebrating Earth Day, promoting recycling, and practicing counting for students from Pre-K to 4th grade.
“Earth Day ~ Hooray” emphasizes sense of place and has many fun facts about recycling throughout the story that will help readers understand how important it is to take care of the earth. The book is full of beautiful illustrations and uses visual learning to convey mathematical ideas.
Maple Leaf School’s Save-The-Planet-Club chose to clean up Gilroy Park as part of their Earth Day celebration.
Earth Day is on the way, and Ryan, Luke, and Carly have a plan. If they achieve to collect and recycle 5,000 aluminum cans, they can make enough money to buy some beautiful flowers for nearby Gilroy Park.
CAN they do it?
Counting the cans gives Ryan, Luke, and Carly — along with readers — a lesson in place value
