No Exit The Apple Grove Gang Vol.1

Benny Churchill and Bug Beetle are off and running on the last day of school. They are ready for a great summer of fun with the Apple Grove Gang. Instead, they learn a lesson in politics. When the Apple Grove Community Center is closed, the Gang finds out just how hard it is to fight city hall.

This is a very refreshing story about children who still play outside, know people in their town and have an adventure that makes a difference in their lives. When the gang runs up against local politics that threaten their community center, they find out how tough it is to fight city hall.  They become involved in local politics, which may or may not make local celebrities. Finally, when their backs are against the wall, and they find out that there is no exit, the real fun and excitement begin

There is a special book, each character is developed and shared with the reader as if they are the children down the road.

The author Hamilton C. Burger’s clear delight in his craft shines through on every page. The children in this book have real voices and real lives it took me back to the days when children played outside and enjoyed life; not sitting inside watching Television or playing computer games.
The language is simple and to the point which makes it easy for a young reader to keep up. There is no twisted plot and for a child looking for his first ‘long’ book, the Apple Grove is definitely the way to go.

I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series and I am sure you will too.
