Flames Swim Team

flames Variety Village Swim Team

About The Team:

The Flames Team is a completely integrative swim team for athletes of all abilities. The Flames fosters an atmosphere of personal growth and positivity. Emphasis is placed on individual development and achievement. Swimmers are encouraged to reach for personal successes such as best times instead of on scores and placement. Our participants are given the chance to develop a healthy lifestyle, make friends, build confidence, and be a part of a team. For Flames Swimmers it doesn’t matter where you start, it matters where you are going.

Our program is designed to allow children with physical disabilities an opportunity to gain self-esteem and learn and develop into strong independent adults. They swim right beside their able-bodied team mates who in turn become strong swimmers, leaders, and role models.

Competition opportunities are provided at all levels with approximately one competition per month. We are so pleased to be planning an out-of-town competition this season. Our swimmers will travel to London Ontario to compete at the 2013 Ontario Winter Festival. Being away from home and family will be a first for many of our athletes.

Flames Swimmers are dedicated to both developing their swim skills and enjoying the challenge of competition. Swimmers develop a strong work and team ethic as they strive towards their individual goals.

About the Coaches
Our coaches are a team in their own right. With over 40 years as competitive swimmers and nearly 20 years of coaching experience between them, they are a young and enthusiastic trio! Corrine Bainton leads the way as head coach with Caitlin Allain and William Kerr in the Development role. All three are committed to building a team atmosphere and helping swimmers accomplish their individual goals. They are always willing to include someone new in the group and are dedicated to discovering how each athlete can improve and reach their potential.
